wHAT TO Keep An Eye Out For In Manly

May kick’s off the start of the whale migration season, where more than 40,000 humpback and southern right whales make their way along Sydney’s coastline in their annual migration from Antarctica to the warmer waters of the Pacific. Head up to North Head for your best chance of spotting these big ocean teddy bears playing with their caves at the entry to Sydney Harbour.

 

WHAT’S HAPPENING THIS MONTH

Cinco de Mayo House Party – 5th May

Let’s get loose as a goose! Grab your housemates, find a saucy outfit and get your butt to the Stoke Beach House Bar for one hell of a Mexican fiesta.  We’ll be slamming the tequilas and spinning the decks for a night to remember. Unless you have one too many tequila shots and end up with your head in the toilet bowl, then you might want to forget the hangover that follows.

 

Strawkle – 7th May

Get your ass out of bed for a good cause. We’re rallying all housemates to help us protect our beloved ocean and pick up the trash other sub-par humans have left behind for a quick 45 minutes. Don’t worry, it all kicks off at 10am at Manly Cove. The crew from Operation Strawkle will be on hand to give us the lowdown.

 

Eurovision Trivia – 10th May

Our Eurovision enthusiasts are putting you through your paces with a quiz night like no other. The euro tunes will be pumping, and the questions will be spicy. Gather your enthusiastic Eurovision housemates and put your group name down at reception. New to Stoke Beach House and haven’t settled in with the crew just yet? No worries, our reception crew will pop you in a team, so just let them know you’d like to join in.

 

Salsa Night – 17th May

Back by popular demand! Loosen those hips and learn a new dance move that’ll have the girls swooning and boys drooling. Who needs a dance partner when you can fight over the sexy instructor?! We’ll be slinging drinks, corn chips and salsa dip to get you in the mood. If last time is anything to go by, your hips will be shaking like Shakira’s in no time.

 

Killer Ping Pong Tournement – 19th May

Get your competitive side out with the Stoke Beach House killer ping pong tournament. This fast pace game will move through short sharp ping pong games to those brave enough to partake. Bring your game face and shit talk to see if you have what it takes to be crowned the winner. Sign up at reception.

 

Aussie BBQ & Trivia – 24th May

Fill your gob with a classic Aussie sausage sanga, tommie sauce and an ice-cold beer (yes, our beer is actually cold no matter what they tell ya) before putting your intelligence to the test. Sign up at reception with the most outrageous group name you can think of. If you’re new to Stoke Beach House, no worries. Our crew will pop you in a group with the other newbies for a night of laughs.

 

Other Bits On

As if that’s not enough, you’ll find our morning yoga times posted at reception if you’d like to limber up before a day of exploring all that Manly has to offer.

Every Tuesday night, we lay low with a movie in the laydown cinema room. Keep an eye on the housemate’s Facebook group to have your vote on what we’ll watch. The popcorn machine will be pumping out fresh buttery popcorn to keep your taste buds tantalised.

Taste of Manly is in full swing from the 27th – 28th May. Sydney’s best winemakers, brewers and foodies come to Manly to showcase their best treats. The streets are filled with boozy adults and the smells of food.
