The Goat Drops By Manly

Only one week into Winter and the swells have well and truly been pounding the north shores of Sydney. These world-class waves have attracted the attention of 11x World Champion Kelly Slater, the undisputed GOAT (Greatest of All-Time). 

At the ripe age of 48, Kelly is still hacking lips with the best of them, ranking 8th for the 2020 WSL surf tour. Not even all those years of cutties, laybacks, spitting barrels and whacky methods of food fasting could save the GOAT from snapping 2 boards up the road at Avalon, a testament to the cajones of the locals out there ripping too. Waves were getting up to 10 foot, which means faces of over 3 metres… but don’t worry aspiring kooks, sand dwellers and keenos! Manly and the surrounding beaches are rarely so jacked up, there is plenty of spots to practice your craft!

We can’t guarantee you’ll be graced by the presence of the GOAT, but we can reveal he owns a cheeky slice of paradise just up the road in Avalon. If it’s good enough for the GOAT, it’s good enough for us! Cheekily enough Kelly has been seeking refuge from all this pandemic pandemonium in Australia since the outbreak of COVID. 

Whilst sightings are rare, our staff have been lucky enough to spot Mr Slater enjoying a soy chai latte or a sneaky turmeric number on the Manly Corso… Only surrounded by about 100 other punters and cameras. Money can buy you property at all the best surf spots in the world but evidently not privacy!
