The Goat Drops By Manly
Only one week into Winter, and the swells have well and truly been pounding the north shores of Sydney – world champion Kelly Slater drops in.
Another amazing winter swell graced our shores last week. Whilst most beaches were washed out, Manly’s Deadman’s was the place to be. Deadman’s is a world-class reef break/slab that can get pretty mutant but can also produce orbs so big you could drive a truck through them. located in front of a wild cliff face just around the corner from Manly beach.
Massive crowds flocked to the cliff to watch local chargers, tame 10-15-foot mountains. Some are calling Chris Lougher’s screaming barrel the best wave ever ridden in Sydney. This Winter so far has been a blessing for surfers with new swells each week to test our lungs and our wiggling skill set, however, this particular swell that made its way to us is getting talked up as one the biggest swells we have has in years.
Manly is a special spot, even on the biggest days of the year there is still the south protected corner which provides rollers and a fun wave for the not so experienced. Queenscliff picks up more swell on the northern side of the beach for the smaller days and in the centre of the beach (North Styene) there is usually a fun rip bowl where you can get a little radical.
Whether you’re a certified lord or aspiring kook, Manly has a peak for you and we have the knowledge to take you there. We love to surf, and we love to share our love of the ocean with everyone so join us for a slab or 2-foot burger.
