5 Things To Do on the Manly Ferry
There’s a lot you can do in thirty minutes. I mean, brush your teeth, call your mum or how about one of these more fun filled options?
Here at Stoke Stays, we wouldn’t be launching our very own Stoke Beach House if we weren’t pretty damn sure that there’d be some great bars to party in.
That’s why we decided to write our very own Stoke-approved list of the best bars in Manly so that when you find yourself craving a beer after a long day on the water, you know exactly where to go.
Is there any better place to find yourself sitting down talking shit with your mates than on Sydney Harbour itself? The Wharfy is a fan-favourite here at Stoke, and you’ll often find us here jug in hand, embracing the sunshine and watching the rugby. On Friday and Saturday nights, after chowing down on some pizza and seafood, our mind turns to party-mode, and we can count on Wharf Bar to sort us out with some live DJ sets to keep us in the zone ’till late.
History buffs among us are likely to appreciate the Steyne, not only for the obvious alcohol-related reasons but also for the fact that the original building was built in 1859. After a fire turned the whole thing to ash, it managed to rebuild itself and is now heritage listed. History aside, Hotel Steyne now has seven dancefloors, so if you’re struggling to pull on one, you’ve got six more to choose from. Even if dancing’s not your thing, you’ve always got stunning ocean views to appreciate while you enjoy the smooth taste of your eighth pint.
Stumbling into Donny’s for their $6 beers and two-for-one cocktails during happy hour will make you feel like Don Draper himself – except, the Aussie version of course. Donny’s brings together both the laid back Australian casual vibes we know and love, as well as some modern New York City-inspired décor sure to impress. Of course, décor is excellent and all, but Donny’s wouldn’t be on a Stoke-approved bar list without some great times guaranteed, and as sure as we know how to party, Donny’s knows too. With some great local Sydney bands playing throughout the week, don’t be surprised if you find yourself turning to your mates at one-point muttering one of the simultaneously greatest and worst ideas of all time: Bro, we should start a band.
Finally ready to chill out a bit? Belgrave Cartel is your place. It doesn’t have to be all beers and partying with Stoke, although of course we have been known to get a bit out of hand. Belgrave Cartel is the place to go not only for its great cocktails, but also for its food, coffee and relaxed atmosphere. It’s the place to bring your mum in the morning and your mates in the arvo. With a homey feel to it and some chilled live music always on offer, it’s still got something fun going on. It’s hard to look past Belgrave Cartel as one of the best bars in manly.
Of course, we saved the best for last. You wouldn’t expect us to start up our very own Beach House without a sick bar and good times guaranteed, would you? I could go on and on about the surf camp itself, the quality bedding, the all-inclusive packages and the best mates you’re sure to meet along the way with a stay at our Surf House, but this is a list of bars, so I’ll focus on the important stuff. Our bar has beers flowing from morning to night, with a one-hour open bar every night completely free when you book with us, plus the obvious Stokie-vibes we’re known for. If you’ve ever been to one of our European festivals, you’ll know what I’m talking about. This shit gets loose. Just because we’re on home soil doesn’t mean we’re holding back any punches, if anything, we’re going to go bigger than ever. Is this one of the best bars in Manly? No, it’s the best bar in Manly.
