How To Keep Supporting BLM
The BLM gatherings in Australia are not imported, systemic racism has always been a huge part of our society. Every colonised nation has piggybacked off the plight of their indigenous populations and its time we educate ourselves and recognise the ongoing wrongs of our past.
A bunch of us from the Stoke Beach House marched in solidarity in the recent BLM protest at Town Hall. The vibe was gnarly, enthusiasm for such a solid cause mixed with nerves of such a large gathering just as Covid-19 restrictions are being lifted. If 10,000 people can watch the footy, surely we can take a stand with our brothers and sisters.
As great as the march was, the fight is far from over. It is up to us to continue to educate ourselves as allies. Stay informed, check in on your friends. Provide support. Have uncomfortable conversations with those around you, silence is violence.

We acknowledge that the hostel is on unceded Guringai land. Whilst we will never truly understand, we will stand and strive to continue to educate ourselves as allies.
Always was always will be Aboriginal land.
